Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) Pipes 


Electric resistance welding (ERW) is one of the many processes of manufacturing welded steel pipes. This process is used to making pipes and tubes with lower wall thickness. In ERW, a flat strip of the steel is passed through a series of rollers to mold them in a cylindrical shape. This cylindrical shaped pipe is then welded by passing a high-frequency electric stream between the edges and forcing them together to make a bond.

M.S. ERW Steel Pipes –

Steel is produced when carbon is added to iron, which is quite weak on its own. In modern industry, carbon is the most prominent additive to a ferrous material, but alloying elements of all sorts are common. In fact, alloying elements are common even in piping products still considered to be carbon steel.

Black pipes are formed from low – carbon mild steel on Automatic tube mill by high-frequency induction welding process. ERW pipes are welded longitudinally, manufactured from coil and can be manufactured up to 24” Diameter.

Black Steel Pipes have wide use across many industries due to its strength and ease of workability. Because it contains relatively few alloying elements and in low concentrations, black steel pipe is relatively economical.

Uses of (ERW) Black Steel Pipes –

The oil and petroleum industries use black steel pipe for moving large quantities of oil through remote areas. Black steel pipe’s strength makes it ideal for transferring water and gas in rural and urban areas and for conduits that protect electrical wiring and for delivering high-pressure steam and air. Additional uses for black steel pipes include gas supply inside and outside homes, water wells high-frequency and sewage systems. This is advantageous since black steel pipe needs very little maintenance.  Black steel pipes are never used for transferring drinking water.

ERW steel pipes and tubes are available in various merits, wall thicknesses, finished and diameter, which are majorly used in various industrial purposes, fencing, scaffolding, etc.
